Have you heard/read about the novel, The Camel Bookmobile? Think it’s just a figment of fictional writing?
Well, think again! There is a real camel-borne library that exists in Kenya’s Northeastern Province near the border of Somalia. And they are now trying to get donations of books to their library as the service becomes ever more popular amongst the tribes. They have a blog that aims to get more people to donate books from all over the world. And you can read more about them here.
There has also been a great number of authors who have donated their books to the Camel Book Drive.
So, go on and send some books over to them, or purchase them through their Amazon Wish List, or donate some moolah.
Think I’ll get some colleagues to see if we can pool some money to send some books to them.
